Printing Engineer
Full-Time Position
Plextronics seeks a Printing Engineer to identify printing technologies relevant to organic electronics, assess equipment vendors and establish relationships with leading companies, qualify Plexcore inks on relevant printing equipment, and ensure customer acceptance of Plexcore inks for printing techniques.
Additionally, the Engineer will have the following responsibilities:
- Run coating evaluations on-site at equipment vendors, communicate results and conclusions across functional teams, and justify equipment targeted for investment;
- Lead a team of chemists to develop ink for specific printing equipment working closely with product teams to ensure customer requirements are met and robust product specifications are established;
- Work closely with Technical Sales Support to enable customers to achieve desired printing and film-forming characteristics;
- Translate coating processes from rigid panels onto flexible substrates where appropriate;
- Travel <25% of time expected for domestic and international travel including Europe and Asia.
The successful candidate will have the following skills and experience:
- Minimum B.S. degree in Engineering, Chemistry or Materials Science;
- 5-10 years of experience in organic printed electronics is preferred (preferably OLED and/or OPV);
- Demonstrated experience leading technical projects in a challenging and frequently evolving environment;
- Hands-on experience with one or more of the following printing techniques relevant to organic printed electronics: gravure printing, slot-die coating, nozzle printing, ink jet printing;
- Experience with organic electronics (OLED, OPV, OFET) which were produced on flexible substrates, preferably with roll-to-roll processes while using solvent delivery systems and/or formulated inks, is a major plus;
- Familiarity with thin film measurement methods such as profilometry, ellipsometry, spectral reflectometry and AFM. Proficiency with this equipment is a plus;
- Experience with statistical methods such as design of experiments, process and gage capability and SPC. Familiarity with statistical software such as Minitab or JMP is a plus.
- Strong communication and problem solving skills are required;
- Experience in formulating inks for organic printed electronics is a plus;
- Experience in customer-focused and team leadership roles is a plus;
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills are a must.

Development Chemist II
Full-Time Position
Plextronics seeks a Development Chemist to work closely with the Technical Sales Support function to identify evolving customer requirements for ink products.
The Chemist will formulate or re-formulate inks to meet customer requirements, and will have accountability for specific parts of the product development process.
The Chemist will also be responsible for the following:
- Work closely with the Process Engineer to develop inks for specific printing techniques (relevant to organic printed electronics);
- Provide written/verbal communication of project status on a weekly basis;
- Develop clear work plans;
- Provide data package and samples for customer evaluation;
- Develop formulae to be transferred to Manufacturing Engineering.
This position will require proficiency with ink characterization tools, ink processing equipment and the use of a glove box.
The Chemist will have the following education, skills, and experience:
- Minimum of B.S. in Chemistry, Polymer Science or related field;
- 3-5 years experience in the product development of inks, paints or other coatings;
- Extensive knowledge of cross linking technologies, surfactants, rheology modifiers and other additives relevant to inks and coatings;
- Demonstrated success in developing ink formulations to meet customer requirements;
- Experience working with a variety of printing technologies is a plus;
- Working knowledge of the ISO 9001 standard;
- Ability to organize and manage multiple priorities;
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills are a must.

Technical Sales Support Chemist
Full-Time Position
Plextronics seeks a Technical Sales Support Chemist to provide pre- and post-sale technical sales support primarily for customers in Asia (Japan, Korea, Taiwan, China).
Please note that the individual who fills this role will reside in Asia with quarterly trips to the United States on an as needed basis.
The Chemist will be responsible for identifying and predicting issues with customers in Printed Electronics (including, but not limited to OLED and OPV).
This role will also coordinate efforts with the ink chemists, printing specialists, and Plextronics’ technology function to solve identified issues.
The Chemist will also:
- Ensure customer satisfaction;
- Interact closely with Plextronics’ Business Development team in the US and Asia;
- Work closely with ink chemists to plan experiments, analyze data, and determine root causes;
- Work with the Manufacturing Engineering and Shipping/Receiving teams to assure 100% on-time/right first time product shipments.
The successful candidate will have the following education, skills, and experience:
- M.S. in Chemistry, Materials Science, or Physics. Ph.D. is preferred;
- 5-10 years experience as a technologist and technical sales support in Organic Printed Electronics is expected (preferably OLED and/or OPV);
- Excellent written and verbal communication and problem-solving skills are required;
- Experience working with customers in Asia is a plus;
- Experience in formulating inks for organic printed electronics is a plus;
- Experience with statistical methods such as design of experiments, process and gage capability and SPC;
- Familiarity with statistical software such as Minitab or JMP.

Device Engineer
Full-Time Position
Plextronics seeks a Device Engineer to design and execute indoor and outdoor stress/accelerated tests for organic electronic devices.
Other duties will include the following:
- Develop test methodologies;
- Design, build, debug test setups;
- Perform advanced data analyses;
- Carry out hands-on testing whenever necessary.
The successful candidate for the position will have:
- Ph.D. or Master degrees in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering or related fields;
- Strong instrumentation skills especially those involving optics and automation;
- Solid data processing skills including statistical analyses;
- Industrial experience preferred in stress tests and failure analyses in organic electronics, microelectronics or related fields;
- Highly motivated with a drive for excellency;
- Excellent communication and team work skills;
- Good time and project management skills.
